When you snap your fingers, the noise doesn’t come from your fingers!

Most people believe that noise you hear when you snap is from your two fingers but this is wrong.

Actually your finger is slapping your palm.

The sound related with a snap is from your palm because there is a faint whisking noise from the friction when your fingers rub together.

Rubbing your two fingers together in preparation of a snap builds up force that is released when your finger strikes your palm, making the snapping noise.

Try putting a tissue or padding on your palm and the noise will be significantly diminished!
