There’s video which shows that the 17-year-old gorilla was actually protecting the young boy once he fell into his home, and was even seen holding his hand.

Many witnesses at the zoo say Harambe was being protective of the little boy, because of all the screaming and shouting going on above them.

Cincinnati Zoo Director Thane Maynard says one the shouting began, the gorilla became agitated – turning it into a ‘life threatening situation. We all need to work to make sure our families are safe. Do you know any four-year-olds? They can climb over anything.’
