People Notice Something As Movers Start Hauling Obama’s Stuff Into Home

Photos of moving trucks being unloaded and items being brought into the Obamas new D.C. home have gone viral after people realized they’ll be neighbors with the President-elect’s daughter Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner, as well as Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner, a senior adviser to his father-in-law, President-elect Donald Trump, have purchased a home just blocks from the Obamas’ property, The Washington Post reported.

Ivanka and Kushner will live just a 13-minute drive from the White House in a six-bedroom property they purchased in December for $5.5 million.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos spent $23 million on the largest private property in Washington, which is close by.

“We’re just so used to it,” Sally Berk, a resident of Kalorama, said of her famous neighbors.

A Secret Service guard booth has been constructed in front of the house where the former president and first lady will reside with their children. Gates are also to be installed at each end of their street.

The 8,200-square-foot home is owned by former White House press secretary Joe Lockhart.

Bezos’ property is a 26,900-square-foot mansion and was formerly home to the Textile Museum. He has already had renovation plans drawn up by architects to convert it into a family home for his wife and four children, Observer reported.

Even not-so-famous residents of the neighborhood require substantial financial resources to live there, with monthly rents averaging $20,000.

“It’s Washington — if you don’t like it, don’t live here,” said retired doctor Penn Lupovich, who has lived in Kalorama for more than 40 years.

“I came here to change the world, and that’s the way it has always been. That’s what we do here. Change the world!”

President Obama is the first head of state to move directly from the White House to Kalorama since President Woodrow Wilson in the 1920s.

There has been no shortage of other well-known residents.

“Ted and Vicki were neighbors of mine,” said longtime resident Jim Bell, referring to former Sen. Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts and his wife, Victoria Reggie Kennedy.

“[Former Secretary of Defense] Donald Rumsfeld lived here. It’s a whole bunch of mostly quiet rock stars, and then once in awhile you’ve got someone who gets more press. And then it dies down.

Everyone says, ‘Enough is enough.’ At the end of the day, they’re just people. They have dogs and kids and they go to sleep at night.”
