One Australian man is grieving after police found his 2-year-old daughter’s body on a roof just two hours after she was reported missing.
On Tuesday afternoon, Peta-Ann Francis called the police to report that her 2-yearold daughter Nikki Francis-Coslovich was missing in Mildura, Australia.
After a brief investigation, police find fingerprints on a manhole cover in the ceiling which led them to a roof space where they located Nikki’s deceased body.
An autopsy located important details about the girl’s death but police haven’t yet released those details to the press. The Homicide Squad is still investigating.
Nikki was the youngest of four girls. They are all under 8-years-old and live with their mother and her partner, John Torney.
NIKKI’S FATHER, NICHOLAS COSLOVICH, IS HEARTBROKEN OVER THE NEWS.
“I got told by the police that (Nikki) was missing and my heart broke, I sort of knew that I wasn’t getting my baby back,” he told 9 News. “When I got the news that she’d passed, again it took probably a minute or two to sink in and then I just broke and since then it’s just been coming in ebbs and flows.
“I’ll go numb and then I’ll be overwhelmed.”
COSLOVISH SAID HE FEELS GUILTY THAT HE WASN’T THERE TO PROTECT HIS DAUGHTER.
“I can’t believe I let it happen, I feel guilty that I didn’t do enough, I could’ve done more and my little girl’s not here now and I’m sure there’s something I could have done,” he added. “Even though I know that I did everything within the system, I feel I could have done more, I didn’t save her and that’s the worst feeling in the world.”
